Classical Renovation

F.E. Trainer recently completed the full-house renovation of a historic brick home in Sequoyah Hills designed by Baumann & Baumann (Andrew Johnson Hotel, Cherokee Country Club, Westwood, etc.). This 7,000+ s.f. property received a complete exterior paint job while protecting the existing slate roof and copper metalwork. Inside, all original hardwood floors were refurbished, with the addition of matching hardwoods in new areas of the home. Walls were moved to provide a more open space in the kitchen and den area. Careful consideration was paid to selecting materials that would complement the existing historical features of the home, such as hexagonal tiles and white porcelain bath fixtures. A distinct and irregular plaster wall finish was restored and replicated throughout. The unfinished attic was fully enclosed and air conditioned to allow for expanded living space. This required reinforcement of the roof structure to accommodate a taller ceiling, as well as reworking the home's HVAC ductwork. All electrical was replaced, as well as a majority of the plumbing. The master bedroom suite was completely reimagined with the addition of a modern bath, laundry area, and more closet space. Outside, a new pool was built that features a luxurious pebble aggregrate finish capped off with a Pennsylvania bluestone pool deck.
